Work

MoAD
Fundraising |Event Planning

While serving as a member of the Museum of African Diaspora’s Vanguard Leadership Council, I have had the opportunity to plan and execute countless events that have raised funds to support the museum’s educational and artistic programming. I created the concepts for two large annual fundraising events over the past to years: our 2014 holiday party, “Winter Wonderland” and our 2016 seersucker-themed day party, “Seersucker Luxe.” The holiday party was the highest grossing event ever held by any MoAD Vanguard Leadership Council and the day party was also well attended, hosting a diverse group of professionals from all across the Bay.

Studio 17
Media Outreach & Stakeholder Engagement |Communications
Campaign

I spearheaded a communications campaign to raise awareness of Studio 17, a collective of more than 70 artists facing displacement in San Francisco’s Mission District. As the studio’s publicist, I promoted their final open studio in the building, managed their Facebook account and secured media coverage in several publications including The San Francisco Chronicle, KQED Arts, Hyperallergic and several local blogs. I also mobilized the artists and community partners to organize and get involved in a Planning Commission hearing on the landlord’s project proposal to have the building rezoned for administrative business use.

Curated

Copy writing |Website

After holding several successful art exhibitions in for-sale homes, Curated States, a real estate home staging company, was ready to create a website for its new business. The company approached me to develop messaging and copy for its website, the first outwarding facing platform for its brand. I worked closely with the company's co-founder to capture Curated States' emerging identity and essence.

As Truong's publicist, I've managed integrated communications campaigns for his exhibitions, Framed Targets and I Meant To Say Please Pass The Sugar. As a result of my work, the opening nights of the exhibitions were packed and Truong received media coverage in countless publications including The Huffington Post Arts and CultureThe San Francisco Chronicle, The Washington PostKQED ArtsInterview Magazine RussiaThe Independent UKKQED ArtsThe Bold ItalicManifold Magazine and Art Business. Truong sold the majority of his work from both shows.

EDF

Project Management |Website

I lead communications for an Oceans research team at Environmental Defense Fund that seeks to solve the overfishing problem by providing fishermen and stakeholders with tools and resources to better manage their fisheries.  I managed the design and creation of our website which included hiring and working with a web designer to incorporate our branding into the site's design and drafting all web content. I also managed the website's launch and community engagement efforts.

CFF

Video Production |Website

I worked with a video production company to produce a three-part video series on EDF's California Fisheries Fund (CFF), a program which provides loans to fishermen who fish sustainably. This video, part two of the series, highlights how CFF borrowers used their loans to improve the sustainability and profitability of their fishing businesses. View part one which discusses the history of the fund and part three which explores the need for more funding in the fishing industry.
